Motion Picture Motors out in force at the Festival!

We’re excited to announce that Motion Picture Motors are bringing 13 cars to the Cotswold Festival of Motoring.  So if you’re a car, TV or film fan, this is for you!  For example, this year is the 50th anniversary of Steve McQueen’s iconic film Bullitt.  So how fantastic that we will be marking the occasion with the Bullitt pair on display.

These cars supported the Silverstone Classic with this YouTube homage to the original film

And while we’re discussing the work of Steve McQueen, we’ll also be joined by a Porsche 917, a model made famous in the film Le Mans.  This car really is a show-stopper.

Other firm favourites for Festival goers to enjoy include – Knightrider,  Starsky and Hutch,  The Saint from the 1960’s, The Blues Brothers  and Only Fools and Horses.  There are other surprises too – treats for the eyes and ears!  So come along and get those Selfies with your screen heroes.  This promises to be a highlight for all the family.

Great news coffeeholics! – Grouch Coffee join the party

We’re delighted to announce that Grouch Coffee, the locally based specialist barista coffee company, will be providing fantastic coffees, teas and goodies at the Festival.

Kelly, the founder of Grouch will be working her magic from her wonderful Italian 3 wheeler.   Using coffee roasted in Bristol and milk from local dairies this is brew you won’t be disappointed by.

If you’re wondering about the name? We’re all a grouch until we have that first cup of good coffee!

Flying the flag in South East Asia

I have recently returned from a couple of weeks holiday in South East Asia. My travels included Nong Nooch Gardens in Thailand. Amongst the many specialist gardens, imagine my surprise and delight when I came upon the Car Garden! As you can see  this was a collection of vehicles but you’ll also notice the UK was very well represented indeed by a patriotic Morgan and Mini and trailer combo.  We are expecting some very special Minis and Morgans at our Festival in August so I hope owners of these marques are pleased to see they are being promoted in such a beautiful place.

StrEat Pizza join add to the Festival atmosphere

Husband and wife team Craig & Rachel Tyldesley, the creators of  StrEat Pizza, will be joining us on the 12th August for the Cotswold Festival of Motoring. From a restored 1970s caravan they will be creating fresh handmade pizza prepared right in front of you and baked in their traditional wood fired mobile pizza oven .  Craig and Rachel believe in championing local artisan and ethical producers.  They use the finest seasonal ingredients to deliver a taste sensation that’s deliciously different – can’t wait!

Happy New Year!

So, 2018 is finally here and a very Happy New Year to all our supporters.  Today we went along to the Classic Motor Hub near Bibury for the Cotswold Classic Car Club’s New Year’s Day Meet.

It was a busy event with over 300 classics in attendance and many more visitors enjoying the display and bonhomie.  Despite a wet start to the day it stayed fine for the meeting itself.  We will be collaborating with the CCCC later in the year and look forward to welcoming their members to the Cotswold Festival of Motoring in August.

Over 100 pupils enter Festival art competition

Sam Redding has won a drawing competition run by the Rotary Club of the North Cotswold . There were well over 100 entries and Sam’s entry was deemed by a panel of 5 judges to be the best as it had some splendid drawings and really captured the range of things described in the brief – “what will the Cotswold Festival of Motoring be like?” He won a certificate, Rotary pen and a £20 Amazon voucher. There were certificates for all entrants and each year group winner received a Rotary Pen.

Cotswold Festival of Motoring Art Competition Captures Imagination of Primary School Children

On 5th November 2 sixth formers from The Cotswold School, Frankie Deverell-Jones and Carla Terroba-Taylor spoke to Bourton-on-the-Water Primary School’s assembly, to offer the children an exciting opportunity to take part in an art competition.  Frankie and Carla, who have been involved in the school’s organizing committee for the Festival, described the various elements of the event and asked the students to imagine what the day would be like and create an illustration. The Rotary Club of the North Cotswolds has donated a £20 voucher as a prize for the winning picture.  Today was the deadline for submissions and a small judging panel will look at the entries next week and select the overall winner. As well as the prize the winner will have the satisfaction of seeing their work used to promote the Festival which will be raising money for charity.

Clubs at Classic Motor Show looking forward to the Festival

Organisers of the Cotswold Festival of Motoring visited the NEC on Sunday 12th November and had a very enjoyable day speaking with fellow enthusiasts from a wide range of clubs.

We had a warm welcome from many clubs but were particularly delighted to learn from Rob Hudson of the Austin Healey Club that they will be very well represented at the Festival. Among the cars they intend to bring along are 2 that were on their Club stand – superb examples of their marque. We look forward to welcoming them in Bourton-on-the-Water in August.

1st Competition Car Registers for Festival

This 1962 Fiat Abarth 850TC Nurburgring will be coming to the Festival in August. Currently campaigning in HRDC’s Touring Greats series the car has been racing for 6 years.  She was purchased in Italy after lying dormant for many years and in 2013, shortly after being prepared to FIA Appendix K regulations, she returned home to Italy to take part in the wonderful Silver Flag hill climb.  This short video gives a flavour for the Silver Flag event and the plucky little Abarth enjoying the twists and turns to the full.  We look forward to seeing other competition cars amongst the vehicles displayed at the Festival.

New Prizes for the Concours

We’re delighted to announce that we will be awarding Autoglym prizes to our concours winners at the Festival on the 12th August 2018.  We’re very grateful to Philip Marsh who provided the following statement:

“Philip Marsh & Company Limited (official Autoglym franchisee) are pleased to be attending the 2018 inaugural Cotswold Festival of Motoring event – being organised by the North Cotswold Rotary Club – and to be adding our support to raise funds for their chosen charities, which includes The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.  In addition to sponsoring the Concours competition, the full range of Autoglym Car Care Products will be available from our stand”
